    John Charles Lodge was born on the 20th of July, 1945, in Birmingham, England. John's unique compositions include such lively  Birmingham, England. John's unique compositions include such lively songs as "Ride My See-Saw", "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)", and "Sitting At the Wheel", as well as a couple slow, melodic songs as "Isn't Life Strange" and "Talking Out of Turn".

   John's first goal in life was to become an electrical engineer. He attended college at the Birmingham College of Advanced Technology, received a degree, and worked at a Birmingham engineering company before finally joining "El Riot and the Rebels" with future Moodies Mike before finally joining "El Riot and the Rebels" with future Moodies Mike.

    El Riot and the Rebels broke up in the spring of 1963. Between this time and his joining of the Moody Blues in September of 1966, John played with several other local bands, including "The Carpetbaggers", "The John Bull Breed", and "The Falcons". Finally, in May of 1966, John moved to London to join Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge, and new addition Justin Hayward, in The Moody Blues.

    The Moodies recorded their first album, Days of Future Passed, to which Lodge contributed fast-rocker "Peak Hour" and the lovely "Time To Get Away". Days of Future Passed eventually made it big, and the band recorded 6 more albums before breaking up in 1974.

    In 1975, John joined with bandmate Justin Hayward to form the "Blue Jays", as they're sometimes called. The Blue Jays album was undoubtedly the most successful of all of the solo releases, peaking at number 4 in England.

John's only other solo release was Natural Avenue, released in 1977. This album reached the 38th position on the charts in England, but did not reach higher than #121 in the United States.

In 1978, the Moodies reuinted, recording Octave. Lodge contributed two songs to this album, "Survival" and another rocker, "Steppin' In a Slide Zone"
